PATHOLOGY
Is the study ofdiseases that can cause abnormalities in the structure or function of various organ system.
DISEASE
A disease is the pattern of the body's response to some form of injury that cause or deviation from or
variation of normal condition.
Disease maybe ;
i. Hereditary
ii. Traumatic
iii. Infection
iv. Vascular
v. Metabolic process, manifesting as a set of characteristics known as signs and symptoms.
TERMINOLOGIES USED IN PATHOLOGY
Signs
This are measurable or objective manifestations.
Symptoms
Feelings that the patient describe or subject manifestation.
Latrogenic
These are diseases caused by a physician or treatment.
Nasocomial infections
Are infections contracted in the acute care facility.
Community acquired infections
Are infections contracted in a public setting outside of the acurlte care facility.
Idiopathic
Underlying cause is unknown.
